Gaze Dynamics Analysis

Studying and integrating patients’ head and eye movements.

1) Using a virtual experience with the Artisan iOn® headset, gaze mapping collects information about each patient’s unique gaze patterns. This is where we gather data about how a patient moves their head and eyes to interact with their world visually.

2) We then use this data to create a unique gaze map – a quantitative representation of this personal and unique gaze pattern.

A completely immersive VR experience assesses each patient’s unique gaze dynamics at all distances. A multi-sensory environment leads the user through a simple tracking exercise for maximum adaptability. This controlled environment assures the resulting data is not subject to variability.

Unique for Each Person

Gaze dynamics is unique for each person and it allows metaverse researchers to have a tool that identifies a person in less than 1 minute with a 94.33% reliability.

Gaze Dynamics is the combination of head and eye movements we naturally use with interacting visually with objeccts on the environment. It’s how we see the world.

Natural Gaze Dynamics

Single vision or uncorrected vision is a distortion free experience. Users gaze patterns are natural and unencumbered by lens aberrations or lateral swim.

The user’s visual environment is unrestricted, no element of the surroundings prevents the individual from looking at objects in a natural way.

Using progressive lenses results in a restricted visual environment and introduce gaze pattern hurdles.

Lateral aberrations require users to adjust their gaze patterns, sometimes unnaturally, to accommodate for unavoidable distortion at the periphery.

Artisan iOn® Map Visualization

The gaze dynamics data is visualized in a frequency-of-use map.

The Artisan iOn map is a quantitative representation of the unique and personal way each of us look the world around us. It indicates the areas of the lens through which  patients naturally gaze. The map illustrates this by mapping high and low usage areas to different colors from Red being the highest concentration down to Blue being the least.

Shaping of the Lens Begins

With the patient’s prescription entered, the shaping of the progressive surface begins based upon the Gaze Pattern map established during the patient’s VR session.
